Every single one of Texas’ 5.5 million students deserves the same opportunities to seek the education that is best for them—not the one that’s best for the big labor unions. We will fight for the rights of students and families against the entrenched education bureaucracy’s stranglehold on education policy in Texas. Families should have the choice to enroll their children in the best school to meet their needs, whether it’s a public, homeschool, public charter, private, virtual or blended learning school. Texans support freedom and freedom is providing families with a choice.
Texas Federation for Children is a project of American Federation for Children, a 501(c)(4) organization, which is the nation's leading organization seeking to empower families, especially lower-income families, with the freedom to choose the best K-12 education for their children.
The children of Texas have fewer educational opportunities than students in most states. In fact, Texas has the fewest educational options available for children in the South or Southwest.
The Texas Federation for Children will lead during this important moment with momentum for the school choice movement. In fact, a recent poll taken here in Texas found that 74% of registered voters support Education Savings Accounts, 64% support Tax Credit Scholarships, and 67% support a Federal Tax Credit for state K-12 scholarships.
The evidence is clear and definitive -- students enrolled in choice programs are more likely to attend college, have higher test scores, be more successful members of society, and most importantly: it improves the K-12 system for all students.
